To celebrate its Fall/Winter 2024 issue titled A New Perspective, Document Journal’s Editor-in-Chief Nick Vogelson hosted an intimate dinner with cover star Jake Gyllenhaal and heritage fine jewelry brand Cartier at the personal residence of renowned chef Ruth Rogers, owner of Michelin-starred restaurant The River Café. The star-studded guestlist included talents like Roisin Murphy, Bianca Jagger, Peter Sarsgaard, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Guy Ritchie, Ruth Wilson, Bianca Brandolini, Fabian Frankel, Mimi Xu, Mickalene Thomas, Jaye Thompson, Simone Rocha, Candice Lake, Sophie Wilde, Sumayya Vally, Christopher Kane, Kiki Willems, and Jonas Gloer, in addition to Document Journal cover talent, model Lara Stone and tennis star Venus Williams.

VIP attendees also included the hosts’ friends and family, including DJ Honey Dijon, Document Style Director Ronald Burton III, Fashion Director-at-Large Robbie Spencer, and Chief of Staff Colin Boyle. Important members of the art and design world were also in attendance, such as Turner Prize nominee Claudette Johnson, director of the Tate Modern museum Maria Balshaw, and senior director at Gagosian Stefan Ratibor, as well as Cartier’s international director of PR and influence Jaye Thompson and creative communications director Emmanuelle Guillon.

Guests enjoyed an autumnal take on The River Café’s specialty Italian cuisine, dining on fresh cannellini with Scottish langoustines, spinach, yellow tomatoes, roasted pumpkin, and artichoke, and for dessert, the restaurant’s famously rich chocolate nemesis cake as well as a lemon tart. The first course was Gyllenhaal’s favorite dish, chef Rogers’s famous pomodoro.

Unified by the convivial spirit of dinnertime conversation, Document’s A New Perspective issue was welcomed family-style.
