Satoshi Kondo's motion-friendly collection was showcased in an effortless dance performance.
Driven by a futuristic ethos, dynamic layering, and motion-friendly fabrics, Issey Miyake presented a seamless collection for Fall/Winter 2020 at Paris Fashion Week. In line with the brand’s penchant for integrating technological influence into garment designs, creative director Satoshi Kondo expanded on his forward-thinking sensibility through crisp triangle-pleated jumpsuits, pearlescent tiered gowns, and a single-shoulder patchwork dress. Without compromising wearability and seasonal practicality, Kondo offered a geometric play on the puffer trend in traditional black and vibrant yellow. High-neck knits and full-length trousers made an appearance in pebble grey and dusty purple furs, nodding to the Danish hygge in minimalist Japanese fashion. Presenting the collection in an effortless dance performance, Kondo juxtaposed the futuristic feel of his modern designs with a tranquil soundscape inspired by the natural environment.
Document went behind the scenes and to the runway to capture the essence of Kondo’s sartorial vision.
