Power through TSA lines, long bus rides, and Amtrak delays with the LA band's ultimate road trip playlist.

Starcrawler is the LA based band reviving rock-n-roll. Endorsed by Elton John and Garbage singer Shirley Manson, their visceral sound combines elements of the glam metal and heavy Black Sabbath-esque rock of the 1970s with aspects of grunge and punk, creating a distinctive take on the genres. The band consists of Henri Cash, Austin Smith, Tim Franco, and lead singer Arrow de Wilde, all LA natives who met in high school (not long ago—all members are barely 21.) Starcrawler’s high energy, chaotic live shows have become notorious for de Wilde’s stage antics. She often performs in a hospital gown or spits fake blood while violently thrashing; The band’s urgency is both terrifying and mesmerizing, the antithesis of boring.

Starcrawler have been on the road promoting Devour You, their second album, released under Rough Trade Records last month, but took time out from their touring to share a playlist with Document. Aptly titled “Stuff we Listen To In the Van,” the playlist is full of the songs they’ve had on repeat. The songs span decades and genres, encompassing Hole and Jane’s Addiction, new wave sensation Devo, as well as essential heavy classics from AC/DC and, personal hero of de Wildes, Ozzy Osbourne.
