Through sparse black and white compositions, photographer Zhi Wei and Document’s Shawn Lakin invoke the work of performance artists from the late 1960s, transposing the mesmerizing subversions of social norms and suburban femininity by Meredith Monk and Yoko Ono onto our current context of unrest and reckoning. In each scene, fashion strikes a balance between elegance and structure, wearability and fluidity—the application of a post-modern skin.
