“Documenting my life has always been a part of what I do, even though it is probably not something that many people routinely see,” says photographer Terry Richardson of his forthcoming art book, “SKINNY,” a visual chronicle of his love for girlfriend Alexandra “Skinny” Bolotow. “It feels very natural, and it’s exciting to get to share some of this [type of] work.” Published by IDEA, the intimate volume—perhaps Richardson’s most personal long form series to date—begins with the couple’s first encounter in 2013 and leads up to the birth of their twin sons Rex and Roman earlier this past year. Previewed here, the exclusive images reveal a candidly private softness from the photographer who worked closely with Bolotow on the wide-spanning selection. “It definitely covers a lot of territory,” he says. “In some ways it feels like our relationship has changed a lot over the years, but in other ways it feels more or less the same. We still get along as easily as we did when we first met, even after becoming parents and having to worry about all the more mundane family logistics types of things. If you look at all of the pictures in the book, they all have a similar energy and trust.”
Richardson debuts “SKINNY” at Dover Street Market New York on September 9, 2016 with a special book signing as part of the space’s Open House event for New York Fashion Week.
