Brioni’s La Donna explores new ground

Brioni, under the direction of creative director Norman Stumpfl, presented its latest vision for womenswear on Wednesday in Milan. A project that first began as a capsule collection in 2022, the Spring/Summer further solidifies Brioni’s astute venture into explorations of femininity and fluidity.

Founded in 1945 in Rome, Brioni carries a legacy of exquisite tailoring and craftsmanship, one that is rooted in Italian sensibilities while appealing to a global audience. To this day the brand emphasizes personal relationships with clients, and it maintains an extremely robust made-to-measure service that creates devotees and acolytes. It’s only natural that Stumpfl and the team are extending heritage to define the idea of the Brioni woman.

The collection sports a range of pieces that create a playful balance between more feminine draping and exquisite sharp tailoring that is traditional to the brand. Among many moments of sumptuous craftsmanship, a black dinner jacket features eight thousand crystals knotted by hand with silk thread. Featuring a range of garments from shorts to slip dresses, Brioni carefully taps into the versatility of contemporary dress liberated from traditional trappings.
