In “Hope is a Word,” photographer Bex Day and stylist Patricia Villirillo set out to explore the freedom and desperation, absurdity and romance, of the American road trip in an anthropological series inspired by people in transit. The photographs evoke the serendipity of life on the road, naturalistically showcasing pieces from SS18 collections as if they’d been found in souvenir shops on the way. In these vignettes, transience becomes transcendence in this visual serenade to the characters one meets along the road and the dramas which unfold around them.
